about the

charities

Since 2001 I've helped raise over £200,000 for various charities. The British Heart foundation initially through various running and skiing event, and then Cancer Research, and now Prostate Cancer UK is my focus. I have recently set up my own charity which will be officially launching in 2020. I hope this will also me to focus my efforts where I feel they are best and most needed.

British Heart Foundation

The British Heart Foundation is a cause close to my heart (excuse the pun). My dad has heart disease, my brother has a heart murmur with a bi-cusped valve, I also have a bi-cusped valve and my mother and auntie have recently had open heart surgery to replace the faulty valves. My brother and I are likely to need the same valve replacement operations later in life so supporting BHF is a no brainer. They do great work, and will one day save my life.

Cancer

research

Cancer affects every family in some way and has impacted my family and friends considerably. Everyone has their own stories to tell so I don’t need to explain any further. Cancer Research put on a race called the London winter run. This was the first event I ever took part in and since I've been raising money for the cause. If it's not me that is affected by this terrible illness then it will be someone else so let's beat cancer, please donate. There were around 352,000 new cases of cancer in the UK in 2013, that’s 960 cases diagnosed every day. Someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes.

Prostate

Cancer

I met a great man called Kevin a few years ago. We met in a race called The Marathon des Sables. Running across 260km of the Sahara Dessert. A few days in he dropped the bomb shell. He had 2 years to live. He caught his cancer too late. Thanks to the great work that research has provided many people live and die without knowing they have prostate cancer, however many do not. Most charities need money for research, but Prostate Cancer UK primarily need funds to raise awareness. Checking early is key. was luck enough to spend a week in Kevin's company, talking and understanding it a little more. Now I want to do my bit.
